RUBBER EGGS!
Our science opt-in today was eggs-cellent (haha!) We learnt about acids and how they can eat away at, or break down, other substances. We watched baking soda react with vinegar, and talked about the chemical reaction between an acid and a carbonate. Then we learnt that egg shells are also made of carbonate, and that they will react with vinegar. Here is our group getting very excited about seeing so many bubbles in our bowl as the vinegar starts to react with the egg shells.
These eggs are hardboiled, but I have had some raw eggs in vinegar for a few days and brought them in to show the children what has happened to them.
