FRIDAY FUN DAY

What a day Friday was!!!

We had our Games Day with Piako Tahi, auditions for Riverdale's Got Talent AND we had fish and chips for lunch!

CODING & ALGORITHMS

We have been learning how to make an algorithm - this is a set of instructions.  We have to use arrows to REPRESENT the direction of which way we need to go.  It is really important that we check out algorithms (instructions) for any bugs before we bring it to the teacher for checking.  We need to DEBUG our work.  Thinking like this, is called Computational Thinking.

GAME MAKING

We were so busy last week making our games.  We had opted in to the game workshop that we wanted to make.  

Some of us decided to work in pairs or small groups and some of us decided to work by ourselves.  We also have a group of kids who were able to work together to make a game WITHOUT help from the teachers.  They needed to be REALLY good self managers!

Once we had made our game we had to test it to check for any bugs.

SPILT MILK - EXPLANATION

Today in Mrs Lunn's Literacy Group, we continued learning to write explanations.  We had to look carefully at the picture and then explain what we think was happening.

 

When the milkman delivered the family milk, a strange cat came out of nowhere and sadly knocked over the milk on the deck.

I think the milkman got one hundred bottles of milk delivered to a family in Auckland.  The cat came to the doorstep and knocked a bottle over.  The cat drank the milk from the bottle.  Now the family had ninety nine bottles.

When the milkman delivered the family's milk, suddenly the cat scrapped his face on the side of the bottle.  Crash!  The milk dripped.  Then he lapped up the creamy milk.  When he finished the milk, he did it to every other one.  Mum said ... "You are in big trouble.  You are supposed to tell us if we have milk.  You are grounded!"

One day the milkman delivered the milk and left it on the front doorstep.  Boof!  The kitten knocked over a milk bottle on the step.   Crash! Crash! Crash!  went the milk.  Then there was only five left in the tray of milk.  When the owner came out of the house, the owner said, "Naughty, naughty little kitten.  Stay in the house!"

One day I was going up to my door step.  When I got there I saw some white stuff on the ground.  My brother left the door open and my cat came out and spilt all the milk bottles.  Splash!  The milk went flying everywhere.  It went all over me!

GENIUS HOUR - MAKE A DAFFODIL

On Friday, to celebrate Daffodil Day, we had a Daffodil Challenge. 

We had to make a daffodil to meet certain Success Criteria.

RICH TASK - CODING

                  

On Friday, we completed a challenge.  It was a maze and we had to get the bee to the flowers on the maze.  The trouble was we had to watch out for the fly swat on the maze!

We had to make up a code to tell the bee which way to go.

One day I was in mu car and I saw a motorbike.  It was making a skid.  Ducks saw the skid.  One duck sat at the end of the skid.

I think that the duck turned into a motorbike and he had left a black rubbery skid mark.  Then he turned back in to a duck at the back of the skid.
